Industry Snippet: MA Recreational Marijuana Dispensaries

First East Coast State with Recreational Cannabis Sales reaps the benefits.

Well, just as we all expected Marijuana dispensary sales in the state of Massachusetts have blasted off to a crazy start. Just two months into the legal cannabis industry, Massachusetts has generated an outstanding $24 million. According to the state officials, just this last week retailers sold 76,606 units of cannabis goods. The average cost per item was $43.86. A tax of 20 percent is assessed on cannabis products, with 17 percent going to the greater commonwealth and 3 percent going to the municipality in which the store front is located.

According to the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC), the state’s marijuana regulatory agency as issued it’s 100th recreational marijuana business license and moved three shops closer to opening their doors to customers. At this point there are 8 shops fully licensed and opened, and moving forward - the CCC anticipates four to eight shops to open each month thereafter.
